Meg & Antonio’s Rain-Soaked Wedding on Petty Island

There are weddings where everything goes exactly according to plan—and then there are weddings that become something even more memorable because nothing does.

Meg and Antonio’s wedding day on Petty Island was one of the latter.

Surrounded by a handful of their closest friends and family, and with their dog right there alongside them, Meg and Antonio chose to get married in a way that felt completely true to who they are: intimate, intentional, a little unconventional, and entirely focused on the people they love.

And then the rain came.

Not a little drizzle. Not the kind of rain that politely waits until after the ceremony. It poured.

As Meg and Antonio exchanged their vows, the rain came down around them, soaking their clothes, their guests, and everything in its path. But instead of letting the weather take over the day, they embraced it. They laughed, stayed close, and kept going.

And honestly? It made the photographs.

There was something incredibly beautiful about watching two people stand in the middle of a downpour and choose each other anyway. The rain became part of their story rather than an obstacle to it. Their guests gathered close, everyone got thoroughly soaked, and somehow the whole thing felt less like a wedding disrupted by bad weather and more like a wedding that was meant to happen exactly this way.

Petty Island provided the perfect backdrop for a day that felt intimate and wild all at once. Away from the traditional ballroom setting and surrounded by water, Meg and Antonio were able to make the day about what mattered most: their marriage, their people, and their little family—including their dog.

The details were beautiful without ever feeling overly precious. Meg wore her gown from Varca Studio, purchased at Kinfolk Bride, while Antonio wore Boyds. Their florals came from Fistful of Flowers, adding an organic, artful touch to the day.

And then there was the celebration.

With Fringe Bar handling catering and the wedding cake, and Hook Club bringing the music as the band/DJ, the intimate gathering turned into a proper celebration. The kind where you can actually hear everyone laughing, where every person in the room—or on the island—matters, and where the dance floor feels like an extension of the joy that started with the vows.

Beauty was kept effortless and personal, with Jessica Nuernberg handling makeup, Ashlyn Bausman Salon creating Meg’s wedding-day hair, and Mobile Beauty Society handling her hair the day before.

But the thing I’ll remember most about Meg and Antonio’s wedding isn’t any one detail.

It’s the rain.

It’s Meg and Antonio standing there completely soaked, surrounded by the people they love, still smiling. It’s their guests getting drenched alongside them. It’s the feeling of everyone collectively deciding that the weather didn’t matter because this moment mattered more.

As a wedding photographer, those are the days I live for.

The days that aren’t perfectly polished. The days that don’t follow a Pinterest board. The days where the weather, the location, the people, and all the little unpredictable moments come together to create something that could never be replicated.

Meg and Antonio didn’t just have a rainy wedding.

They had a wedding that felt like theirs.

And years from now, I have a feeling they’ll remember the rain—not as the thing that almost ruined their ceremony, but as the thing that made it unforgettable.
